MEET OUR TEAM


The Clubhouse offers instruction from a team of nationally and internationally recognized instructors and advisors. All players can develop their baseball skills and abilities with help from the enthusiastic, experienced and professional instructors. See the sections below for more details.

MLB INSTRUCTORS

Mike Porzio White Sox

MIKE PORZIO

Founder and Owner
A Norwalk, CT native, Mike pitched in 3 MLB seasons with the Colorado Rockies and Chicago White Sox.  In addition to owning and operating The Clubhouse, Mike is a Milwaukee Brewers Associate Scout.  Mike is the current record holder for the most strike-outs in AAA-Charlotte's (CWS) 80-year franchise history.  Mike continues to work closely with top MLB coaches and collegiate coaches throughout the country.

WILLIE UPSHAW

MLB Hitting Instructor
Willie Upshaw brings an impressive 14-year MLB career with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Cleveland Indians, as well as a 17-year coaching career, including a 3 seasons as a MLB Hitting Coach.  In 1994, the Texas Rangers led the American League in hitting under Willie's coaching.  Willie joined The Clubhouse on opening day in December of 2009.

TIM ADLEMAN

MLB Pitching Instructor
A Georgetown University graduate, Tim was the Baltimore Oriole's 24th round MLB draft selection.  In 2013, Tim was named the 3rd Best Prospect in his independent league by Baseball America.  In 2014, Tim signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Reds where he quickly climbed the ranks and was promoted to MLB Pitcher in 2016.  TIm has been a client and instructor at The Clubhouse since 2013.

ANGEL SALOME

MLB Catching Instructor
Angel was selected in 2004 by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 5th round of the MLB Draft.   Named MVP for the MiLB in 2005, Angel climbed the MLB ladder making his debut on September 1st, 2008.  Angel began offering MLB instruction for catching, hitting and outfield, as well as strength training at The Clubhouse in 2017.  

RICH "EL GUAPO" GARCES

MLB Pitching Instructor
Nicknamed "El Guapo" by his Red Sox teammates, Rich was a favorite amongst fans who would bow toward the bullpen when he warmed up.  Rich pitched in 10 MLB seasons with the Twins, Cubs Red Sox and Marlins.  Rich maintained a 3.74 ERA and held his opponents to a .227 batting average throughout this impressive career.

MiLB Catching & Hitting Instructor
A native of the Dominican Republic, Jose signed as a free agent with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008, as a catcher and first baseman.  In 2014, Jose was the coach for Choate Rosemary Hall.  In 2016, Jose joined The Clubhouse as an instructor and team manager.

MAXX CATAPANO

MiLB Pitching Instructor
The Seattle Mariners 2011 46th round MLB Draft pick, Maxx was named All-State at Fairfield Warde in 2007.  Maxx went on to play at the University of Connecticut and then on to the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League.  In 2012, Maxx joined The Clubhouse as an instructor and team manager.

PIERRE LePAGE

MiLB Hitting and Infield Instructor
The 2014, Chicago Cub's 2010 MLB Draft pick, Pierre is a UCONN alumni athlete and graduate. Pierre holds the UCONN record for fewest strike-outs as a batter in one season.  Pierre was the 13th round selection for the Chicago Cubs in the 2010 MLB draft.  Pierre went on to become a MiLB Post-Season All-Star, playing with the organization for two seasons.  In 2014, Pierre joined The Clubhouse as an instructor and team manager.

JIM PJURA

MiLB Hitting and Outfield Instructor
Named to NE-10 First Team All-Conference in 2013, Jim is a graduate of Pace University.  In 2015, Jim signed as a free agent with the AZ Diamondbacks, retiring in 2016.  Jim has been an instructor and team manager at The Clubhouse since 2016.

JAMES CAMPBELL

MiLB Pitching Instructor
The 2012, Los Angeles Dodger's 12th round MLB Draft selection, James is a graduate of St. Joseph's High School.  James went on to study and play at SUNY Stony Brook.  In 2011, James earned a 3.04 ERA in 26.2 innings.  In 2012, James was named Most Outstanding  Player of the America East Championship at Stonybrook.  James was drafted that same year.

DANNY FIORITO

MiLB Hitting and Infield Instructor
Signed with the Yankees in 2012, Danny is an alumni player and graduate from Manhattanville College.  Danny quickly climbed the ranks of the Yankee's organization, being promoted to AAA in 2013.  In 2015, the Yankees asked Danny to become a coach for their MiLB teams.  Danny has been a client and instructor at The Clubhouse since 2011.

JOE ZANGHI

MiLB Catching and Pitching Instructor
A right-handed pitcher with a 94-97 mph fastball, Joe was the 2015 Cincinnati Reds 24th round MLB draft selection.  In 2016, Joe signed with the Mets where he became a team favorite and friend of teammate, Tim Tebow.
