James “J.J.” Newman is a former professional baseball player from Wheeling, West Virginia, born on October 23, 1983. He played primarily as a second and third baseman, batting and throwing right-handed. Newman began his collegiate career at Youngstown State University before transferring to Erskine College in South Carolina, where he had a standout senior season.

In 2006, Newman was drafted by the New York Mets in the 35th round of the MLB June Amateur Draft.

He went on to play in the minor leagues, including time with the Gulf Coast League Mets and the Washington Wild Things. Over his professional career, Newman compiled a batting average of .221 with 12 RBIs across 44 games.
