Joe Zanghi is a professional baseball pitcher from Milford, Connecticut, born on December 1, 1994. He began his collegiate career at Southern New Hampshire University in 2014, where he played as both a pitcher and catcher. After a challenging season, he transferred to Cumberland County Community College in 2015, focusing exclusively on pitching and significantly improving his performance with a 1.70 ERA.
The Cincinnati Reds drafted Zanghi in the 24th round of the 2015 MLB Draft but chose not to sign. Instead, he joined the New York Mets organization as an amateur free agent in 2016, signed by scout JP Ricciardi. Over the course of his minor league career (2016–2022), Zanghi played across multiple levels, including stints with the Brooklyn Cyclones, Columbia Fireflies, St. Lucie Mets, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Syracuse Mets, and Las Vegas 51s. He also competed in the Arizona Fall League for the Scottsdale Scorpions in 2018.
Known for his strong strikeout ability, Zanghi posted a career minor league ERA of 3.10 over 284.1 innings, with 302 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.28. He reached Triple-A level and was granted free agency in November 2022.
